Help Cycling.

Just done a test on ammonia, nitrite and nitrate, really shocked.

Ammonia = 0.50 ppm
Nitrite = 0.00 ppm
Nitrate = 5.00 ppm

I'm confused.

How long has your tank been running?

It looks like to me that your are just in the first phase of your fish-in cycle, where you are trying to colonize bacteria to process your ammonia into nitrite.

Do a NitrAte test on your tap water, it is not uncommon at all to have nitrAte in your tap water.

The tanks been running 3 days.

I have 5.0ppm nitrate in my tap water.

Okay, that is where your nitrAte is, don't worry that is perfectly fine!

Do a water change to get your ammonia in your tank down to .25 ppm.

Remember, keep your ammonia down at or below .25 ppm, also, do the same for nitrite once it starts to become present.

Yeah i changed the water and got ammonia to 0.00ppm
