Help -Can't Get My Juwel Filter Powerhead Back On!

Some time ago I accidentally broke the bottom of the 400GBpump for my Juwal 90 internl filter. I managed to stick it together with superglue but after a while it fell apart again so I bought a replacement part. The new part fits perfectly on the pump but I can't get the whole thing back onto the internal filter. Luckily I always keep spare filters so the fish are OK.
To be honest the pump has always been a pain to fit back on(dread filter cleaning days!) but it seems to be a powerful filter with lots of media sponges so I'd like to keep using it. It's also handy for keeping lots of spare sponges inside so they will be full of good bacteria whenever I need to set up a new tank or replace a dead filter.

Just a guess, but it may be that the new rubber seal is tighter than the old one, and may take a slight push.

Another thing, they changed the design at some point, and usually include 2 different impeller housings with the pump, but the difference is obvious, so its unlikely you'd get them confused.

Apart from that, cant think of anything I'm afraid.

Might be worth posting some photos. Someone might get an new idea.

Yes that translucent plastic cover(rubber seal?) over the horseshoe shaped inlet tube won't fit over the inlet tube bit in the built in part of the tank filter casing. Should I try to force it on? I'm scred of breaking it again as Juwal parts are so expensive.
Don't think it's the impeller as the new spare part fits perfectly on the powerhead, just doesn't fit over the corresponding part of the filter inside the tank.
