Ello,
So, yet another one of my beloved platys are sick. I need help with identifying what the problem is and how to fix the issue. My mother platy Lucy has raised scales all along her back and her tummy. She shows no other symptoms nor odd behavior. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like dropsy, which is a secondary issue. It's usually a sign of bacterial infection, parasites (usually internal), or poor water. It is also, unfortunately, rarely curable.

Can you please post the size of your tank, as well as tank mates?

We will need to know ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH levels, as well as temp.

Is this a recently set up tank?

How long have you had the ill fish?

This tank has been set up for over one year now. My female has six other tank mates, 3 which are leaving tomorrow to a new home. The remainder will be one male two females. As well as an African dwarf frog. I have had these fish for over a year as well. The water parameters are all perfect. This is a 10 gallon tank ( I keep my population down so this is fine)
The temperature is also kept at about 75-80f, typically closer to 80.
Is this transferable?

Here is a picture of her as well, she has been moved to a 1 gallon temporary hospital tank till her fate is decided. If this is un-curable and infectious she will have be 'put down'. I dont have a lot of money so unless there are cheep home remedies she will have to go. Even as my favorite fish in the tank.

Feed her a de-shelled pea, this will help remove any blockage then starve her for 24 hours then another pea starve her again for another 24 hours then offer some brine shrimp soaked in garlic, only a little. Do daily water changes as clean water will help. This is about the cheapest option other than bloat/dropsy medications. its not a 100% guarantee'd cure

Thank you. I will have to buy peas then, hopefully I can find some medication. She is pregnant which is likely not helping her problem here.

If you get frozen peas just run one under hot water, take the shell off and squash it. Hopefully it will help. Best of luck :)

I will :) I came into a little extra cash so I can get her a treat all pill as well to see if it helps.
She has had a new developement though, I was cleaning the sick tank doing a water replacement and saw what looked like scales, like you would see shedding off a snake, but just single ones and some flaking off of her... Should I be worried at this?

I have just given the first of 5 doses of marineland's "all-in-one remedy" in hopes of it helping her. She refuses to eat anything and has me worried

She has begun to develop red spots that appear to be little open sores. The biggest on her tummy the size of the back end of a sewing pin. The ones for hemming clothing

That does not sound good. I am not familiar with that medication, but hopefully it will help.

She thankfully made it through the night with surprising results. Her scales are almost all down, and the spots have not gotten any bigger :)

good news fingers crossed for a full recovery.

Yup, she has started eating again today. She only wants flakes though, no peas

How long has it been since she last ate? only give her a very small amount for now just in case.

Only 2 days, and I am, she only got a small flake because she refused the pea
