Just inherited a 29 Gallon tank, and I am a true beginner (have never owned any fish of any kind before). Can anyone help identify these? I have figured out the cardinal tetras, but the other ones I'm stumped with. There is also another smaller (cory? that is kinda salt and peppery), and a snail (Camera battery died before I could take their pics). I haven't had the tank for a week and am already having tons of fun with it, and I can't wait to dive deeper into this hobby.

The two in the middle look like platties. Not sure of the top one. Welcome to the fish hobby! I've enjoyed it so much. It's nice just to sit and watch them swim around. You'll get loads of advise here!

Actually it's one looking at his (her?) reflection! The tank came with a black backing paper but they looked confused by the reflections the light in my living room caused, so I took the black off. Google image search seems to confirm your guess though, he's(she's) definitely a platy. Now all i need is to figure out what sort of cory that other one is, and the snail, and I'll have "met the whole family" :p

THE TOP PICS LOOKS LIKE A TYPE OF CORY, I WOULD ALSO SAY THAT THE MIDDLE ONES ARE PLATTYS
