Hello , After i trimmed some plants down a few weeks back they have developed a black tips?? Should i trim this off?
other plants in tank are in good health, what is the best method for trimming of plants????

For stem plants you need to decide how many inches you want them to be below the surface to allow you some time before you need to trim them again (2 or 3 inches for instance.) Let's say they're touching the surface and you want to bring them down 3 inches. You don't just cut them down 3 inches. Instead, you gently dig the whole stem plant out of the substrate, measure 3 inches up from the -bottom- and use sharp scissors (or other sharp blade) to cleanly cut the stem at a slight angle. You then replant the long part (use your fingers to dig in the substrate, not the plant stem because it bruises it) in the decorative position where you want it. The little ugly 3 inch bottom stem you cut off can be planted somewhere in the light if you want to try and have it take root and be a new stem or you can just dispose of it (it's hit or miss whether it will re-root or break down and die.) The main (now shortened) stem plant should however continue to do well because the growth area up near the top will still be just fine. Pruning stem plants in this manner helps you to keep them straight and tall rather than having them branch too much on you (of course, sometimes that is desirable.)

Plants with a base crown and leaves are pruned in a completely different way than stem plants (basically, old or damaged leaves are gently pulled away from the crown by hand.)

All plants of course need correct light intensity and timing and proper nutrition.
