I am also a big fan of livebearers and do enjoy bettas too. My interest in bettas lately has turned toward the various species of betta seldom found in casual hobbyists tank and I do keep lots of wild type livebearers. Drop by the livebearer section and have a look around. There are always lots of inexperienced livebearer people there who benefit from basic advice and some of the folks who spend some time in the rarer livebearer section are very experienced keepers but those folks are mostly from the UK. We recently split the splendens section form the "other bettas" section because people interested in other bettas were put off by having to wade through all the picture postings by splendens keepers to find the occasional post on smaragdina or similar betta species.
