Hello From North Carolina!

Hi all, I'm not exactly new to the fish game, but I've recently begun keeping my first large (large to me, at least, lol) aquarium. I'll have questions from time to time and I look forward to the great advice I'll receive.

Hi seizethecupcake and Welcome to TFF!

I live in Chapel Hill and another fellow who wrote our main working article on Fishless Cycling lives in Mount Holly, outside Charlotte! There are also a couple of active members in South Carolina and a few more here and there that I've seen.

I had a previous run in the hobby back in the 1960's 1970's but then didn't do it for years so I call myself a "re-beginner." I have found the whole topic of fishless cycling to be fascinating and also learned a lot on TFF about better water changing and filter techniques, so I've ended up trying to help out in the freshwater beginners section. I've also made much more progress with plants this time around, despite them seeming harder than fish to me.

I have almost the same size tanks as you because the thing that got me back in to it this time was my son, so our 5.5 quarantine tank and larger display tank are in his room! I hope you'll look in on us over in the new freshwater tank section from time to time!

In my 5 gallon, I've got two cory cats. In my 26 gallon, I've got a dwarf gourami, 4 GloFish, and a really, really bossy guppy!
