Hello From East Of England

Are the front feet webbed on the frogs? If they are they look like African dwarf/Congo frogs. Great at hiding.

Yes I think they are and yes once again they are very good at hiding but they do come out and have a look and swim about. They all stay in the same area in the rocks near the bike.

I have a couple. Congo frogs is another common name for them.

They are funny and can get in the smallest spaces.

Not only that but from what I've seen, any agression from fish, the frogs get ignored, so they won't get picked on.

It is a nice tank. Welcome.

Oh and there's a good article on them here on the site, it's pinned at the top of the reptile and amphibian section.

cheers for the reply...Yes we can get to the back we changed the background the other day and when you could see the white wall behind the tank looked great..SO is the background just for looks?? it does not make the fish feel somewhat better/at home?

I will keep an eye on that plant but at the mo its been getting bigger. I was going to go for bigger fish but I thought get small and watch them grow.

A background makes no odds to the fish IMHO unless you were to build some sort of rocky background to go inside the tank, with contours and overhangs etc..

How long has the plant been in there? Honestly mate that plant is not for putting into water fully submerged...pet shops sell them regardless though

If you get a big fish whilst still small and watch it grow and see a major change in both looks and behaviour! Your call, have a look at severum though, they are magnificent ;)

I think backgrounds are very useful, even just stuck on ones. Aside from making the tank look complete, they provide a dark, sheltered area at the back of the tank that mimics plants or a river-bank by giving the perception of shelter. It also stops light coming into the tank sideways (to an extent) which increases the sense of security the fish have.
