Some of you may know about 2 months ago I bought the last 3 Pygmy Corys in the shop, on the promise they'd get some more in soon. As my luck goes of course they didn't and so this week I ordered 4 off ebay from Kesgrave Aquatics (am I allowed to say this? Sorry if not)

THEY JUST ARRIVED! I'm so excited, all seem fine *touch wood* and are currently in their bag in the tank (and yes I've used pegs before anyone asks lol). I'm going to try and acclimitise them quite slowly coz they've come from a long way off so god knows what the PH difference is like. But YAY, I now have 7!

I'm also really impressed with this guy, they were packaged really well with double bags, newspaper and a heatpack. I also requested he send me bigger rather than smaller ones due to my piggy yellow micky platy who I would not trust with anything too small and he's done that too. I'm hoping I've got a mix of male and females coz I think it's time the LFS's round here did stock them ;)

Sorry, really excited!

Cool, He is really good. Have bought from him in the past and his Shrimp prices are nearer the trade price so works out well. Agree that his packaging is very good and they fish arrive in great condition.

:yahoo: woo for cories!

I'm so jealous. I really want cories but I can't in my tank cuz the temp is too high :(

You got Chichlids?

You know I'm just looking at them and their colour is so much stronger than my current ones. I think it might be coz they're wild ones do you think? I so love them!

No I have a hillstream loach which likes the temp to be 25-26 celcius, which is too high for most cories. Although, saying that, I believe sterbai are ok with higher temps so maybe that's the way to go? Either that, or I need to rehome the loach...which'll be tough, cuz it's not a very nice fish LOL

As for colouring - I have no idea! Sorry!

Edit: Or another option is another tank at a different temp... :hey: but I'm not sure my hubby would be down with that...

Lol yay for more tanks!

Ooo my temp is 25. Is that too high? I've got Platys and Honey Gouramis too. I know the Platys would be ok with a lower temp but would the HOneys?

I'd love to have another Rio the same size and colour next to my current one, and I think the space I have in mind in the new house would fit them both along it, but just because it fits does not mean I'd be allowed lol.

I think 25 is alright, but it's right at the top end of where they prefer. As for the honeys I dont know what their temp prefs are.

Ignore me, I'm stupid. It's set at 24! Lol I know that whole degree makes all the difference!

This is the loach I have.

Apologies, I must've misread it when I read up about them - I thought they liked the higher temps. In that case I might drop my tank temp to 23-24 ish and get some cories after we move. Assuming the rummy noses and gouramis would be alright with that of course...

I wouldnt worry about it to much ive kept pygmys for over a year at 25 and they are all doing perfect.

There not what i thought you meant. Ive never looked into them so i dont have a clue what temps would be best. I doubt the gourami and rummy nose tetra will appreciate lower temps doth do best at about 26C

Thanks for the heads up on this firm Twinklecaz. I have already looked at some of their stock on ebay and thought they sounded good to deal with...........always nice to have it confirmed.

Enjoy your new fish.

Yeh it's tricky trying to find that happy medium to keep all the fish reasonably happy. According to the loaches website the loach is happy at 23-26, but I went for the higher temp for my angels at first, and have kept it there for the rummys.

I'd love to have cories, keyholes and moonlight gouramis when I move, maybe honeys or some more angels - there's lots of things I'll consider, but it's all about finding that happy medium of temp. They're all happy in soft acidic water which is what I have so temp and size are the only hinderance.

When they've settled Caz you'll have to take some pics of the new pygmys alongside your current ones, to show the colour diff :)

The best way to keep every thing happy is to try and pick fish from the same places or that do best in similar sorts of water conditions.
