Heating Water

Ok this may be a stupid question, but when you remove a large amount of water from your tank with your fish in, how do you heat the water you are putting back in?

I will only use cold water which has been boiled in a kettle to mix with the cold water form the tap, so that I get the right temperature.

Some people will use hot water directly out of the hot tap to mix with the cold tap water.

Most importantly, do use a dechlorinator as per instructions so that all the chlorine and chloramine are removed.

I used to use water from the hot tap -
then 2 of my fish developed "fits" and eventually died.
I supposed that copper from the hot water system had got
into the tank - and copper is highly poisenous to fish.

Since then I have always boiled water in the kettle, and mixed it with
cold tap water - adding dechlorinator as instructed.
No further problems

I just adjust the tap to approximately the right temperature, fill a bucket and then siphon it into the tank.

Never had a problem

I use hot water from the tap. Most dechlorinators remove heavy metals like copper anyway, so that shouldn't be a problem.

It looks like most people have never had a problem with water straight from the tap. (Dechlorinated of course)

I use hot water from the tap along with water treatment. I've never had a problem with hot water from the tap but I'm situated in Scotland and allegedly water up here is cleaner generally because there are less people in Scotland = less pollution, dunno if this is true.
