Hi,

right... this is going to be one of the dumbest things ive asked but here goes.....

my heater is set at 26°c but my thermometer has been slowly going up and now reads 30°c (heater still at 26°c)

will i be right in thinking, get a new thermometer? (its one of the little glass ones by the way)

I'd be more inclined to say it's the heater that's wrong rather than the thermometer, but thermometers are far, far cheaper to replace so I'd get a new thermometer and check before shelling out for a new heater.

Is there anything else nearby your tank that might cause such a rise in water temperature? Radiator, lights etc?

no nothing near the tank, no lights (except aquarium lights obviously) nearest radiators 4 ft away.

yea thats what i feared having to replace the heater, but shall try the thermometer first.

could i try turning the heater down in the meantime see if that works maybe to 24?
