Hi all. Today my new tank finally turned up. The only thing that ive got a problem with is that the heater leads are very short. Has any one else found this problem and if so do you have any tips to sort it? Many many thanks

Extension cable seems the obvious solution if you can't move your tank closer to the socket or socket to the tank.

Il shall give that a go. Cheers mate.

Yeah this is a pain, I found out this weekend. Only option is an extension lead.

Am really gutted as the exstention lead im using is pushing the tank far off the wall. Was hoping to put all plugs through the hole in the back of the stand So tank would sit flush to the wall. Will try and look at extending each lead some how. :S

If you are planning to modify the actual lead on the heater I'd be careful as they have a high IP rating allowing them to be fully submerged in the water. You could see if you can put a join at the plug point, by removing the plug, must be something out there that is safe. Just make sure you have a drip loop before your new connection if you are going to do this as it may no longer be water proof.

Thankyou all for the advice. I ajdusted the positioning of the heaters slightly and managed to get a good extension lead and all sorted now. Still a pain in the #17##### though. Lol

You cn get a chock block from any hardware store of enlighten for the cable to fit Into, all that is, is a blastocyst block with screws looks like a Lego block you screw in one cable in one end and the other ye other end, should cost to much Oi can do this for all cables if needed try not to cut the cable at the plug just unscrew the plug and unscrew the cable

We use this method in my job
For signal cable but can be used for power , there not waterproof but a plastic back with tape either end is gd enough :)

I shall try and get a link for a chock bock :)

Cheers all sorted at the mo but will still check these ideas out :good:

Whoa, I am an electrician & I would not use choc block anywhere near a source of water. As for using tape to make it safe, I hope that you are kidding. I am sure you mean well but this is bad advice.

+1, Conti block and water? Ouch

Get a water proof connector block, and even then i would wipe a bit of silicone around the seal as i put it together.

well it works for us in the military :) use it all the time mostly for signalling like telephone signals and comm's work but we have used power before 3 phase and normal 240v but ye plastic bag is temp solution but u can get a waterproof case for it as a permanent one only like 20£ from a gd hardware store :) just don't submerge the thing in water you will be okay :D
