hey i have ich in my tank so have raised the temp to 30-31 C to tackle it (working so far)

all my fish are fine except one guppy who has not eaten in 4 days and is getting really thin and wont even go near food at feeding time

should i remove the guppy and put it into my spare tank??

luckily the tank im talking about im about to set up so it has a sponge filter but is not cycled and i only just ordered the heater which will be here monday or tuesday so it wont have a heater.

would daily water changes and keeping all windows and doors closed to keep the room temp up be adequate?

i hate seeing him starve and he really does look worse for ware

Suggestions? thoughts?

Cheers

Ash

If your treating for ich then it's pointless taking it out as you'll likely spread it to another tank.

How long has the temp been raised for and how long since you've last seen any signs of the ich?

I've never had any fish with issues with raised temp when I've done it myself in the past, are you running an air stone?

Any other fish not eating or any other strange symptoms?

Could be that you've caught it just that little bit too far gone...

i added a airstone the day i raised it and no fish gasping for air

the tank had been raised for 7 days today and the ich is pretty much gone there is a ocuple of spots on one of my tetra and one spot on the ill guppy (th eonly other fish to catch it)

no other fish having any problems

he is sat at the bottom of the tank now not moving much but still alive and i have seen him swimming about

i added the rummynose tetra and the day after i noticed the whitespot so surely not too far gone??

7 days and still signs of it?
When I had it last, the temp was up for about 36 hours and all signs were gone and I started reducing temp after about 4-5 days.

You doing water changes still?
Using any meds?

Might sound silly but they are spots and not bubbles stuck to them from the air stone aren't they?

You tested your water?

on the tetra its hard to see it may just be a shiny scale thats all but the guppy definatly has some sort of spot right under the dorsal fin so if it was a air bubble surely it would have come off? its been there 2 days

people have been telling me complete a 10 day course of high temp then lower it to make sure that all the whitespot is dead

i have done a water change on the first day and the 6th day should i do more??

or take a risk lower the temp and see if it is whitespot?

ash

ps i also thougth it was a air bubble when i first saw it lol

I have been treating Ich with heat only and it's going to be 2 weeks tomorrow, I just wanted to be safe because I hear of many people that treat it with heat for a few days and a few weeks later they see it come back

Water tested?
I remember saying that your rummys looked faint the other day, could be something in that as they are a good indicator sometimes.

ok before i post these i know the PH is not ideal for rummynose tetra but i read if i acclimitised them slowly there would be no problem if i did not think they were colouring up and looking healthier i would have taken them back by now promise :)

PH: 7.8
ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 40 :S a bit high dont know why its that high when i did a water change yesterday not a big one granted another one in order? EDIT: i lied it 20 ppm i was in pnats light sorry lol

I would chuck some bogwood into your tank and some peat moss into your filter if I were you as that's a little high really for ph and you'll probably always struggle.

Have you measured your tap water?

i have got some bogwood in there but will look into peat moss for my filter

how much would peat moss lower it? i know most fish like a lower ph range

Tap water is

PH: 7.4-7.8
nitrate around 10 ppm
