i got my betta (whiteout) bout 5 days ago and i tried to feed him the betta pellets but he wouldn't eat those and then i tried to feed him a pee, but he wouldn't eat that. all he does is put the food in his mouth and then spits it right back out, i don't know what to do but im scared that he's hungry and can't eat for some reason..... i don't know

Try soaking the pellet in water first. Sometimes they can't palate it dry. He obviously wants it as he is trying to eat it. If that doesn't work, go with the live/frozen food.

I would try some live brine shrimp and blood worm. Or frozen if you can't get live. I hope that he starts eating for you soon

im gonna try to soak his food in water 1st and hopefully he'll eat that... i just feel bad bc i can see that he wants to eat but can't

i got him so freze dried worms from the pet store he LOVED those so we got him to eat today fianlly!!! im so happy now :)

That's really good to hear! I had a new boy delivered on Tuesday. It's taken him until this afternoon to eat. My hubby was going mad about it,- but I know that it's quite normal for new bettas so sulk around and not eat for a few days when you first get them. So relieving when they do finally take a mouthful! :good:

I'm glad he finally ate! Every betta I've ever owned went through an eating strike the first few days (or more) after I got them. A poor guy I had last year staved himself to death in a week. Pity... he was simply gorgeous- deep shades of black, blue, green, red, and purple. Really amazing coloring. I remember reading up about betta ailments at the time, and "depression" was listed as one of them. I totally believe it, especially after that guy. (R.I.P. Midnight)
Anyway, freeze-dried bloodworms always did the trick for me too. They must taste heavenly! lol

They usually take frozen, live, and dried food over human made food. If using pellets, I would soak them in water until they are a little softer. Natural food are probably best, few may argue with me but, I have been breeding bettas for 14 years... Slow down a little but still do once in a bored while...
