I have a 10gallon tank divided into 3 compartments, the middle section has just the filter and heater so that each side where the betta are have it even amount of filtration and heating. See pic below.

SpikenMilliganstank.jpg

Milligan my crowntail lives on the left and Spike on the right. I just came in after having my dinner and looked in the tank and couldnt find Milligan!!! Then he appeared and swam out from behind the filter thats in the middle section! He had leapt over the divider!
Im so glad I decided to have the middle section, I cant bear to think what would of happened if he had leapt into where Spike is!!! :-( If he does it again he might leap the other divider and get in to Spikes side!
But how can I stop it happening again? I cant get dividers that are any taller as they wouldnt go in because of the hood on the tank!
The water surface is around 2-3 inches below the tops of the dividers.
All I can think of for now is maybe a placemat sat on top the dividers but then if he leaps up and gets on the placemat he might flip about and end up in Spikes side anyway. What about if I get a condensation tray, Im not sure where abouts the sit in the tank other than above surface level obviously but would that stop him jumping sides?
Also should I turn the light off so they go to there sleeping places? But then Ill panic 'cos I cant see in the tank to see where they are!!
SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I put a layer of plastic canvas over so it was snug all round so that they couldnt jump over.

Firstly, Thats A Nice Tank You Have :good: The Only Thing I Can Think Of Is Taking A Bit More Water Out Of The Tanks *Basic I Know...But Im Not A Very Complex Person Lol*....But 2-3 Inches....Thats A Huge Way To Jump ! Or Maybe Stick Somethin On Top Of The Diveder Shaped Like /\, Like A Roof Over The Middle Section, So If One Jumps Up, It Will Slide Down ? Jus A Few Ideas, Good Luck

is that a rena? if so i have that tank.If its the same of mine you could put a condensation tray on it.

Not sure what tank it is sorry, I cant see a name of the make on it anywhere either. Well I sat my boyfriend on betta patrol while I had a quick bath and it turns out Milligan is so small he squeezed through a gap that could of been NO bigger than 1cm!!!
So Ive taken out the divider on his side and pulled it apart a little and now unless he can go to a size of 2-3mm he isnt going anywhere!
Its a good thing I didnt get me a 3rd male and sit in the middle section as I was close to going to a store and getting a pretty male that I had seen last weekend!!!

Haha...Never Thought Id Say This...But Its Good You Didnt Buy Another Betta Then :good:

They really are little sods! This is why I had to give up on my divided tank they just wouldnt settle and escaped!

get a condensation tray and cut them up that is what I do..I have put 2 girls in a divided tank they better be good...
