hey pppl i need help i cant decide on fish for my 10 gallon. i want atleast 4-5 different types of fish and at the same time i want the tank to be colorful what do you suggest?

Don't think you will be able to get 4-5 different types of fish in a ten gal IMO. But for colorful stocking I would go with a pair of blue rams, 6 neons, and a small school of pygmy cories. If you can't find the pygmy cories go w/ two ottos.

Also make sure you cycled the tank before adding any fish!

Black neons, Endlers and Harlequin Rasboras are also options to be considered in a 10 gallon.

FishyFamily, its very important for us to find out about your water chemistry and filter if we are going to give you the best beginner help, if that's the stage you are at. Often newcomers to the hobby are not aware that it can take quite a few weeks of thoughtful learning and work on the tank prior to being ready to have fish in it. The fish shops not only will not tell you this, they will often actively give you information to the contrary, leading to a regretful situation.

Do you have a liquid-based test kit yet? Have you started studying the Nitrogen Cycle? That's a key thing in understanding the basics of what you are getting in to. Its a lot of fun though and there are great people here to help!

Its not as complicated and intimidating as it can sound on here-and there are always people here who are happy to explain.

Do you know how to cycle a tank, and what type of filter do you have?

You could go with 7 male guppies. And get all different colors and tail types...then its like having 7 different fish :)

Oh God no :shifty:

I agree with Mikala's Idea, or if you was looking for some different you could go brackish, get a Figure 8 Puffer and 4-6 Bumblebee gobies :D

endlers, shrimp, otos, bumblebee gobies, snails, pygmy cories.... :good:

I love my endlers and think they make a colorful active tank but they can a bit pricey and fishyfamily specifically wanted a variety. At the very least, you would want some pygmy cories in the mix to break it up a bit. I really like my 45 gallon stocked with endlers and habrosus cories only but it doesn't sound like what you are looking for. Be aware that endlers will breed themselves out of house and home so if you decide to go with them it might be best to get males only.
Edit What is an endler anyway? Answer, see my avatar.

Wouldnt a ten gallon be to small for a figure 8? not to mention the others???

and to the person who recommended the rams... i would be careful as they can be very territorial exspecially in such close quarters. im still looking for something for my ten as well. good luck.

If it is a pair of rams their shouldn't be a problem. Especially if they have lots of hiding spaces and decorations. I've only had rams be aggressive when feeding and then it was only towards larger fish. He didn't bother the tetras at all.
