So Was Reading a Post on Damage done to owners by Fish and thought I'd Start A thread Here.

So Which Fish have Got ya Good.

Me

When Younger
Pink Kissing Gourami Spike me in the Palm of My Hand.

Now
Jamelia the Parrot bit My hand when Cleaning Filter, She Also Recognises a Closed Fist as her sign to Attack.
Sultan the Sultan Pl*co, Didn't Realise they are Sooooooo Spikey and Rough, Got a Shock when Taking out the Filter to Clean and Did not see Sultan There. Won't do that again.

My 4" male Severum can bite quite hard and usually does it when im least expecting it. If you ever want to hear me scream... :p And i hate doing water changes when my Convicts are guarding fry. There's no fear in those fish when babies are involved...Glad its only my hand that has to go in the water.

Ive been bitten by various toothy predators with the worst of these being when i ended up wearing a 12" needle fish as a finger puppet but the very worst injury a fish has inflicted on me yet is when my arowana jumped as i reached across the top of the tank and smashed into my wrist, at the time it felt like someone had hit my wrist bone with a hammer and it gave me pain for weeks after.

Only injury I have had from a fish is when i was treating my clown loaches for ICH (unfortunatly they died) One of them razed their spikes and tore a big gash in my fingure. Silly me not remembering their natural defense mechanism.

Besides this, all of my fish are fairly peacful, no real predators besides my dwarf puffers lol.

I haven't been hurt yet, but i don't know if any of my fish can hurt me. I think pages that do profiles on fish should really start telling you about how fish can hurt you. The profile for needle fish on this site is one of the only pages that actually mentions that these fish can hurt you. I think thats rediculous.

My tank has tiger barbs a red fin shark and a peacock eel. Can any of those hurt me?. I'm also planning on getting some clown loaches. Someone said they raise spikes. Are these spikes on the dorsal fin?

the spikes are aorund there eyes, when you hear clicking from loach they are moving the spines in and out.

i didn't get an injury from it but it bloody hurt!! firstly my crabs have a pretty powerful claws on them now and when i was moving my spotted/striped doras they kept on wrapping themselfs tightly aorund my fingers and that is painful with all there litle spikes.

an oscar at work grabbed my finger, the shock was worse!!

also the big red tailed catfish at work went to munch on my fingers when i was stroking his back (he liked it!!)

i dont think this counts but its funny anyways...

at work i reached into the black molly tank to pull a dead fish and my hand apparently startled one of the fish who jumped out of the tank and hit me in the eye...pretty hard too...it smeared my eyeliner... B)

i was also stabbed by a raphael cat at work when i was picking it up to hear it grunt...i know i know...i had it coming

my fishies at home are too sweet to hurt me

I have no been hurt yet, but my puffers are scary! They want to kill me! They are not even scared of my arm anymore!

:-(

They scare me so badly!

Haven't been hurt YET but to repeat someone elses question, do red-finned sharks bite?

my sister got cut by a plecos spiney bits on its flanks once...
also i didnt know angels had stabbers, i noticed when i moved one from one tank to another, it didnt do me any harm though

I've had lots of fish related violence :p When we used to breed Oscars, I had one spawning pair that was so mean they attacked everything that came in the tank, uptake tupes, heaters, my hands, they were awful

When I got my plec Big Shark, I had him in a bucket in the car from my inlaws to my house which is a five minute drive, he jumped out of the bucket in the car and when I grabbed him to throw him back in I had cuts all over my palms

When I baster the tiger barb tank, they all get me but that's more like kisses

When I worked at the store someone dumped a RBP on us, i think he was about 4 inches. Anyway, customer wanted him and not really thinking I grabbed a net which he bit through right as I was about to drop him in a cooler and he hit the floor. I grabbed a towel and he still bit me through that :-(
