Have No Idea About Angels

I bought a new tank on eBay as my plec was looking cramped in my old one. It came with a few fish and the guy I bought it from said that he had emaila from a foshshop which was bidding against me wanting the angel only. No tank nothing just the one fish. As they bid nigh on £64 for it I was wandering if I am missing something as I have looked online and can fond angels for £4.50.
Also I know nothing about angels. Would it be ok alone or shall I get another? How do you sex them? Shall I swap round some of it's tank mates or is the set up I bought ok? I would only add some albino cory's and my plec.

I thought it strange. Is this guy/gal gonna be ok alone? As everything I have needs company apart from the plec and a betta I have in another tank I was worrying it would stress alone.

Angels are better with company, for sure; unfortunately it can be quite hard to introduce new angels to an already resident one as they often resent the newcomers and make their lives a misery, or even kill them...

Adding one definitely won't work, unless by some million to one chance you happen to get an opposite sex that your current angel likes; that's like me sticking you in a room with a random person from the street and you falling in love! Your only options really are to buy half a dozen youngsters and hope or keep it on it's own.

They're almost impossible to sex.
