i have 2 gouramis in my 20 gallon ( uk ) tank. there are also many other fish such as tetras, but ive just noticed that my male has become territorial and that for the past 2 days ive been noticing bubbles and the top of my tank. my female gourami has started to change in colour , from dull grey to shiny blue and yellow.my male has also been changing in colour.
check it out:

Thanks ! I woke this morning and found a huge one which I have kept protected . They haven't actually laid the eggs yet , what shall I do next , I'm a newbie to gouramis and I'm quite young .

I'm not sure, I've never got that far. But I think now the male will try to get the female up the bubble nest to lay her eggs in it. Hopefully someone experienced will be able to tell you :)

Do you know anybody who has previous experience who may know? If so please could you suggest they reply to it ?

Thanks Twinklecaz. It is me you were on about, right?
I breed paradise fish but it's the same principle. The male will guard the nest from any fish and he will chase the female for a while, possibly nipping at her fins a little bit but not too much. Once she gives in and goes to the nest they will wrap, I've found this mainly happens at night, and he will turn her upside down under the nest so that she can lay her eggs in the nest. They may then look like they have died but they haven't and one or both will recover within about 2-3 seconds. I'll try to find the photo's of mine wrapping for you so you know what to look out for.

wouldn't the bubbles be slightly bigger? that looks a lot like protein buildup to me.... but ive never bred gouramis, only seen them do it.

They said he had built a larger one.
Got the pics for ya!
