So I have been looking into building two tanks..and I really want to incorporate a cylindrical aqua bridge between the two of them..I will probably start out somewhat small like two twenty or thirties. The problem I see is cutting a circular hole in glass to connect the cylinder. I was thinking about using acrylic instead of glass with a plexiglass cylinder for the bridge? Any ideas or experiences? Would love any opinions...thanks :)

It has some of what you are saying and I would say you should get someone else to drill the wholes because it can become a bit risky even with a glass cutter and finding the right thickness can also be a little bit of a pain for the tubes I am thinking of making a water bridge connecting 2 of my tanks but kind of set up like a wall instead of a gap things can walk through

Awww well try this and I would say either or really matters on what you like the tubes will have to be acrylic unless you want to pay the price for the glass :S

ya no way..i'll definately go acrylic on those, it's safer too i would think..is there a noticable difference between glass and acrylic? I figured it was just because of the weight factor that they used it in the bigger tanks..

And WOW!!! I totally want that tank lol.. that things awesome!!!

sounds like a pipe dream to me ;)
Lol wow

Acrylic tends to be easier to scratch then glass and I think weight but not 100% as well as thickness needed for it also change other then price

That looks awesome, but with that amount of width to the tank, I think that there were some fish that you might never actually see. And honestly, who has the kind of time it must take to build, fill and maintain a tank that size?! My family thinks I'm nuts for going for a huge 56 gallon tank. Honestly, it doesn't look that big in my dining room. It takes up a corner certainly, but that isn't so much, really.

I wouldn't mind the turtle but I would want to do a tank with arowana and maybe some freshwater stingrays and I read the thread it is on and it is like $4000 or $4500 so a lot cheaper then I thought lol and if I did do arowana I would be scared they would eat the flying river turtle

it supposedly took 2 months with only a few set backs and it doesn't show everything made with it lol

omg i have always wanted an arrowana, thats so funny cause i was going to say that earlier lol

Lol I was raised around them almost always in restaurants, or businesses because they were considered to scare off evil spirits which isn't why I want them I just like how they look

I know a little but that is only because most of my friends raised them or because of my lfs trying to sell them to me
