I'm trading my tetra in soon for some harleys, is 5-6 harleys enough to keep them happy?
They will later be joined by 5 dwarf neon rainbows (praecox)...I already have a male fighter and a pitbull pleco :)
And I will be planting my tank out more to provide cover for the harleys and rainbows :good:

I keep harley lovely active shoaling fish.
I would get more than six.
Check them over as you can get bad batches of harley.
make sure there mouths are not open, as I lost harley to open mouths, also they look plump and not skinny.

ok that's cool, i was gonna get 5 of one and 6 of other (harleys and rainbows) but apparently 5 or 6 is fine for rainbows so if I get 5 rainbows and 6 harleys that should be good!
they should be a similar stature to tetra right? plumpness wise....will check the mouths...and i guess the norm, fins, colour...etc

Yes.
Good luck.

The rasboras love open spaces. You dont indicate your tank size so it is hard to recommend numbers. I can tell you I started with 14 in a 50 gal (US).

Look out for Hengel Rasbora instead of the conventional Harlequins.

Slightly smaller but more colour, they look great. I have ten in my community tank.

Often labelled as Copper Harlequins.

With the other fish already, and planned to go into my tank I can only take size.....my tank is 55 litres 60x40x40 a juwel rekord 60 :)

I already have a male betta, a pitbull pleco and I will be getting 5 dwarf neon rainbows and obviously the 6 rasboras, currently have tetra and danios to trade in before getting the harleys.

I'll keep an eye out for the other sort, are they the same size? Need something that size, and depends if the LFS ahs them, i know they have harleys. :good:

If anything I would say they are slightly smaller.

I'd be a bit concerned about putting a shoal in a tank of that size.

In my opinion they need a fair bit more space.

I've had neon tetra in there who are fine, but have to change them because of fin nipping issues, i will be replanting before the harleys go in so there will be cover for them :)

I had harlequins in rekord 60 they were fine.

They usually shoal together, they tend to get on great with black neons, the neons would shoal with the harlequins.

awww that's cute....doubt they will hang around the the dwarf neon rainbows...lol....probably a bit big for them, i just hope odin remains as calm as he's been from the beginning now and doesn't hassle the newbies when they come.

Harley seem to get on very well with most fish.
I've always kept harlequins as they are fun to watch, they are never boring like some tetra.
Think of adding some more harlequins and black neons to my tank.

That's good to hear, i've read they are not known to be aggressive to anything, and I'm glad their not boring, cos the bloody neon tetra are boring as anything....zzzzzzz!
That sounds nice....I like pretty shoals :)
