Over the last 8 or so years I've kept so many types of basic community trops and have found the hardest to keep alive have been:
~German Rams
~Gourami of any kind
~Smaller Tetra [Neon, Glolight]
~Otocinclus

And the hardiest fish I've kept include:
~Rasboras
~Danios
~Larger Tetra [Bleeding Heart, Congo]
~Rainbow Shark

What does your hardest/hardiest list include? :fun:

personally had no probs with gouramis ive still got 3 pearls ive had from day 1 when i was clueless!

could never keep guppies alive for more than a week

my little cories a rock hard absoluitely bullet-proof got them on day 1 when i new nothing of cycling etc they have seen off " new tank syndrome" again in 1st tank i had a nasty outbreak of ich which claimed loads of fish these guys never even flinched

had a black angelfish which died after 3 days while the other 4 are going strong.

I never had a problem with GBR's or gourami or neons, never attempted ottos though.

Hardiest Ive had definately rasboras I have to agree with that, platties, neons also.

Weakest I found were danios suprisingly, one of the first fish I ever got and lost most within 2 weeks (no ammonia, nitrIte etc), male guppies all seem to die on me within days, so I think they are the hardest.

this could be an interesting thread to watch develop.

It will be if more people answer :p
It does really amaze me how different fish react differently to their owners, I wonder if its do with the water chemistry in the area... although, Colchester's not far from me and I can't keep gourami's alive for the life in me.

or perhaps pearls are hardier than other gouramis mel. never tried any others just the pearls

I've had Pearls and Honey, Red Robin, 3 Spot, Lavender, Gold, Sparkling....... cannae keep them alive, just don't know why, 2-3 months and they get legions or dropsy and just die within a few days.

strange maye they just dont like your water or maybe mine are just super hard

I have a red honey gourami and thats doing fine. German blue rams and golden rams i find hard to keep and cherry barbs are probably the hardiest fish i've kept.

No problems with guppies here, like alot of things it depends where you get them from. My LFS has given up on getting them from the czech republic as he says they are so weak its untrue. He just gets them off local people who breed them.

Only fish I've had die on me that I can remember is a ram, though that was literally years ago (havn't bought many new fish at all in the last 8 years - I have stuck with my fish through thick and thin :p), hardiest fish would probably be my oscar or ornate polypterus.
