Hammer Coral Species

Huh, thats cool. I'll be interested in seeing the pics :)

The picture isn't very clear. But it looks like a hybrid to me.

Octo, hammer, torch, frog spawn, and so called hybrids all have branching versions. I'm sure... cause I have them all :)

I'm seeing some significant tissue regrowth; looks like the worst is over. I think I also figured out what's making the hammer go in and out several times per day. Seems to not be liking my MH lol. The lighting must be too direct for it...I'll have to find a way to correct that. My macro has gotten completely out of hand too (I can't even SEE the right half of the tank anymore, it's just a solid mass of green feathers) so I guess I have some major work to do on it this week with macro bushwacking and lighting adjustments.

Sadly the hammer coral had another flare up of the brown jelly and didn't make it. It had to happen on the day when I am out of the house for nearly 15 hours straight...I didn't catch it in time. :-(

Sorry about your loss Donya :(

Yeah they never do it when your there huh?

I know that having a coral die from brown jelly in the tank means the contageon is now in the water...do you think a couple of weeks storing all my equipment in freshwater between tank uses will be enough to ensure that I don't switch it between tanks? My concern is that my tongue coral recently took a turn for the worse in my 5 gallon (it got stung badly by corallimorphs after having somewhat recoverd from a bristleworm attack a month or so ago), so an infection would be a death sentence. I don't know how long it takes this stuff to starve out in the tank water (if it ever does starve out).

The CBS is going nuts again...I tried to appease it by moving my mushroom rock over to the place where the hammer used to be, but that's not working. I may just have to live with a rampaging shrimp if it won't accept my giant shroom in place of an LPS.
