Hi
I am waiting on delivery of a 5x2x2 ft tank. I want to get halides for it and have been looking for information on the spec ect. Ive read that some guys have the above size tank and are using 4 ft halides.
I am looking at 250watt but I dont know if I should get 4ft or 5 ft lighting units which from the spec on the light is just ove 5ft long. My question is. would 2 x 250 watt be enough for corals or should I go for the 3 x 250 watt ?
regards

Well, the thing most people overlook when deciding on number of halides is the position of top braces in the tank. If it has one down the middle you pretty much are limited to two halides. If it has two braces, you are usually limited to 3 halides ;). Having a bulb right above a brace doesnt look that good, trust me ;). If you do have to go 3 halides I'd use 3x175 instead of 3x250. but if its two bulbs you end up using go with 2x250
