Hi,

I have a Fluval roma 200 litre. Tank is planted & ammonia, nitrites & nitrates are at the required levels. They have been stable for a good few weeks now.

The tank has been up & running with fish in it for 3 months now & I have added stock slowly over the passing weeks.
I have a fluval u3 internal & a cheap all pond solutions 600lh from my old tank. Water is really clear & the fish in there at the moment seem to be doing well.

Currently have....
x4 male guppies
x4 albino corys
x7 neon tetra
x2 female mollies
x4 harlequin rasbora
x1 yoyo/pakistani loach

What are your thoughts on everything? Is the amount of fish to high? just right? or could I add some more?

I am aware that the yoyo should be kept in a group but due to the fact that it is very active, eating & growing well & not bothering any of my other fish I am a bit reluctant to add anymore. I have read many good & bad things about yoyo's in a community tank so really do not want to rock the boat!

Many thanks in advance.

Ok, on fish, I've heard things about YoYos being aggresive and was advised against keeping one with my neons, but that isn't personal experience, just what I've heard. I imagine that would apply to rasboras and guppies aswell. (they can get quite large and will eat what fits as well as fin nipping...)
I'd probably only keep rasboras in a slightly larger group of 6 or so but other people will be able to give better advice.

Stocking and Filtration look more than OK.

So the only thing I can see being a problem is the Yoyo. Without other yoyos to keep aggression down, and especially without 4 feet of tank to swim in, he may get aggressive with his tankmates.

What exactly are your water test readings?
What test kit are you using?
Have you been monitoring daily since the first fish went in?

Until i could prove Ammonia AND NitrItes were both '0' for a number of weeks would i add anymore, but what you have listed seems a very nice stocking, peacful and community based (Loach excluding, of course :good: ).
When you say you are using a filter from your old tank, have you used all the same media such as soniges/noodles/ceramic balls/etc ?

Terry.

Thanks for the reply. Will keep a close eye on the yoyo. Would you think its best to get a couple more or try to rehome? Would be gutted to let it go, probably my fave fish in the tank!

I've got an API master test kit & have been monitoring daily/every other day since putting fish in.
For the past 6 weeks the ammonia & nitrites have been at zero. Nitrates 10. Where showing lower at first but I wasn't giving the nitrate solution bottles a good enough shake to start with. pH range is between 7.4 & 7.8.

I just cleaned the filter from my old tank in water I had changed & put it in the new tank. The new tank was actually bought 2nd hand off a mate who bought it new in June & had a similar set up to mine. Again, I just cleaned off filters in old tank water prior to using it myself.

Whats your thoughts on the yoyo being kept alone?

I have been keeping a close eye on things & will make a change if necessary. Would love to keep it though!

Cheers
