My friends 18gal pond is unfiltered and hasn't had a water change for 3 wkd. It has 1 goldfish. I tested the water today and it had 0 ammonia?? Anyone explain?

its probably full of plants which will use the ammonia as a nitrogen source

If there is a fountain or anything else that moves the water, the tank could indeed cycle.

It seems like it would dillute with one gold fish in a 180 gallon pond. But I don't know much on this topic.
