how many guppys could i fit in a 26 litre tank? if this aint ok what size tank would i need?

i would re-home all fry as i know they breed alot

This tank will be on the small side, they would do better in one twice the size.

If you want a mixed group of males and females then I would say 3 maybe 4, you should have only 1 male with 2 or 3 females. This will leave you no room for fry, how large do you intend to grow the fry before re-homing them?

You might do better with only males, 4 or 5 as they are smaller than females, or if you want them to have fry, how about a couple of females who are already pregnant? Most will be pregnant when you buy them from your LFS, they could then have up to 7 batches of fry without a male in the tank, if you do this then you should have enough space to keep 1 or 2 of your fry.

I think it's really too small for them...ideally Guppies should have at least a 10 gallon. A few females might be okay, but I wouldn't do males and females. It will probably be too stressful on the females to not have much room to get away from the boys. And all boys might be a disaster in there...if you were going to do all boys, I'd recommed at least a 10 gallon, as I've never had success in anything less. They just need room to have their own little area.

So I'd go for maybe 3-4 females, or perhaps some Endlers? You could get a good few in there, probably around 6-8 or so.

the tank will be for my mum as i said i would look after it for her. could i just keep male guppies. what size tank is best to get?

If you wanted to just keep males, I'd go for a 10gal or more. You need 5+ males to make it work. Otherwise, you can have 2 gang up on a weaker one, and kill him. 5 seems to be the magic number. So I'd go for 10 gallons or more, and then give lots of little nooks, and caves, and such so they can each have their own little area.

Ive currently just bought a 96l rekord, and am going to set this up as a guppy tank, males and females, and im selling the fry on etc....

I cant wait to get my tank (tmrw) all set up wohooooooooooooooooooooo
