guppy questions

I have always wondered about the reptile plants but then i think how would they react with water since it wasn't made for water and so i have never bought them. Thanks for the suggestion but since guppymonkey says that about the metal and chemicals, i really don't want to chance it.

Also, i forgot to thank the person earlier who replied about the AquaClear 150. I feel safer about that. AquaClears are the best!

Alright i'll look around at the plants then. I just couldn't seem to find the really good thick plants like the java moss. I was looking at the watersprites and i forgot the other seemed really good.

I read somewhere that java moss only requires 1 watt of light per gallon? Does anyone know if that is true? If it is then i might think about getting java moss because with my 10 gallon, i have Fluorescent lighting.

You should get a flourescent bulb that is made for aquatic plants. That way it will give off the correct spectrum needed. Java moss and java fern will grow with 1 watt per gallon but more than that is usually better. Java moss grows on rocks and driftwood and such. If you want to add it to the tank lightly rubber band it to some decorations (it will attach to plastic too).

That is why I suggested removing the main trunk, (the part that contains the wire). As for contamination, you would need to purchase plants for use in semi aqua terrariums as most all of them are anymore especially if they are groundcover plants since desert dwelling reptiles would not need those type of plants. It's mainly an exersize in common sense, kinda like not adding a bunch of shells for decor unless you want extremely hard water.. good for cichlids not so good for other fish, or using incandesant lighting for a live plant filled tank, not good lots of death..

I'll look around for that bulb but i don't think i could find any made for that type of lighting. There is tons for the incandescent lightning though.
