Guppy Question

just purchased 3 male guppies, introduced them to the tank, and they swimming right at the water level. Dont seem to be gasping for air, just sticking together right at the top. is this normal behaviour for guppies? I really dont want to end up taking them back to the shop if they are ill

No reason for concern.... do you have a strong flow current??....

Guppies are "top minnows" that are often found near the surface unless there is some reason to avoid the top, like predators, or there are so many in a tank that they start to feel crowded there. Even when crowded beyond belief, as I sometimes see in my endlers tanks, guppies and their relatives tend to stay near the top of the water.
