Guppy Giving Birth As We Speak!

Hi all,

My female guppy just dropped it's first fry! More to come!

I will keep you updated on the progress... I'm very excited!

Thanks! Still waiting on the next fry. The other fish in the tank are being a nit naughty and nipping at the breeding net because they can see the first little fry! THEY NEED TO STOP BEING NAUGHTY!

First fry is gone. Looks like the mother ate it already EVEN THOUGH it had fallen through into the bottom of the breeding net. Little trick must have found a way back up and paid the ultimate price.

aw! sorry about your baby! all of us who have had live bearers have gone through that! I actually no longer trap mine - I find that having a lot of water wisteria floating on the top gives great cover - I also have a moss ball that i shredded into about 20+ mini mossballs and they cluster together in one corner...the fry hide in the cluster of moss balls as the parents swim right by also looks great in a tank and requires basically no care at all (a plus for me - I have a brown thumb lol)

just set up a baby tank and have saved 5 of 7 guppy fry.

she may have one or 2 more left in her...

That's sad , sorry to hear about your loss. Some consolation, once a guppy gives birth she will continue to do so every month for another 3 or 4 months at least,,,so you will eventually have more fry. Keep mum well fed and you will soon have lots of babies -good luck!
