Hi Guys N Gals,

My Guppy Fry are now 4 nearly 5 weeks old but still are really small, they have some colour, half black... have anyone got any ideas what breed they are or if there just common ones!!!???

Also they have been swimming with the other fish and are fine but really small about 3/4 " but dont seem to be changing, as they are in the main tank i cant feed them 3/4 times a day as the big fish will get fat and die!!! any ideas???

Cheers H_N_L_FISH :):):)

erm, id say if there in your main tank it is because there having to fight for there food and are not getting enough....i had the same problem with a few small guppys in my main tank, however some will just grow alot slower! i have some which are say 2 months now and still only just reaching a inch, if they seem happy enough i guess it should be ok, but check your water stats and post em up, might tell more about what is going on

The water stats are fine...

Amonia - 0
Nirtate - 0
Nirtrite - 0
PH - 7 ish

So ok i think... H

I would say the same has razor,
Also i've noticed when they are in separate fry tank with daily w/c and plenty of food they do grow alot faster,:)

Unusual to have 0 nitrate, unless you have overload of plants in your tank or have just done a w/c ?

So how often do u do water changes?
what you feeding?
Are u using carbon in the filter?

Feeding them flake food crushing it right up for the fry...
Did water change yesterday but do it every 2 - 2 1/2 weeks a time!!!
And yes there in the same tank as the normal fish...

also use carbon yes!!!

Yes sounds like the fish are out compeating them fro food thats they their small.

Carbon i avoid as it starves the bacteria in the filter which are needed unless you happy replacing the carbon ever 10-14 days.
The reason i asked is you have 0 NitrAtes which is rare but not a major problem.

As for the colour if the body is half black then it's classed as a "half black" if the rest is unknown the class is as "AOC" any other colour.
