its deffo not ich, ive had that before!! :( 4/5 guppys are rubbing and flashing all over the tank, eating fine, and today ive noticed a couple of them hanging around at the surface...their gills are pretty red too, poo is dark brown on some but can be white on others...so, is it parasites?? gill flukes, checked params, 0ammonia 0 nitrite 25 nitrate, tank is 80L with 5 guppy adults and 20 approx fry, and 1 tetra

i read garlic soaked food can rid them of internal parasites, so i gave them garlic soaked brine shrimp, seems to have helped a bit with the white poo on some of the guppy but still the red gills, hanging at the surface and the flashing??

pls help..... :)

hard to say for sure, but it sounds like a bacterial infection

Im going to try a course of sterazin, sounds more like parasites according to waterlife...but ive not got the meds yet...what makes you think bac infection? And what treatment do you suggest? X

Anyone else like to help out.....im treating with general tonic for now....im not sure it is bacterial, im thinking its parasites....flicking, heavy gill movement/breathing red gills, white/clear thin poo......all the fish in the tank are now doing it, apart from the fry......

Someone pls help

ill get a video tomorrow my other guppy just gave birth today too :) missed it though so not many babies, but its ok, its nature...

I've experienced similar issues. Occasional stringy white poor, no body marks or visible bacteria/funger, but the fish were itching and rubbing off rocks. The first time it happened, I tried all kinds of meds, and then Sterazin seemed to do the trick.

A few months ago (after introducing new fish again), it started again. I did Sterazin straight away since it had previosul;y worked. Two full courses later, no effect. I also tried Esha 2000 and Fluke Solve. Some of the fish got fin rot because of the rapid succession of meds I think. Used Interpet Fin Rot med which very quick success. Once, I'd got over that, I tried a course of Kusuri Wormer plus for the itching again and it seemed to do the job.

That was about a month ago. This week, I've noticed some scratching again.

Its a tough one to beat
