Guppy-Chichlid Experminet

This is not my tank. But ok. So a friend of mine has a cichlid tank and a guppy tank. Or well those were the only once he had at time. Two of his zebra cichlids had some fry but somehow both parents ended up dying. This led to the other cichlids to attack the small fry. My friend was only able to save 3 fry. He ended up putting them on the guppy tank. I wouldn't put those fish with guppies. But well its been a little more than a year now. The cichlods survived and they live amoung the guppies. They dont attack them or anything. I find it weird. Do you thibk this is jist luck? I do thibk that way.

it might be due to the fact that they grew up in the tank with the guppies... or they just aren't old enough yet to know any better.
 
 
Im not sure I would trust it for too much longer though.  I've heard horror stories about fish (back in my saltwater days) being fine and then one fish snaps and literally kills EVERY fish in the tank.

well, i wouldnt worry about the cichlids, they can do all they want but guppies are breeding machines and its impossible to stop a population sometimes.

I doubt it will last long but about 5 years ago, I had a load of malawis born on a system and the babies got washed through the weirs and pipes into the sumps and that's where most grew up! But very occasionally a baby or two would go through the pump and get returned to the tanks... but where they came out was hit and miss! Most of the time they are like a food being shot out of a pipe!
 
But I did have a pair of mbuna fry of dubious heritage end up in with a few guppies and I left them there, eventually more guppies were put in the tank and they disappeared but a week or two later I noticed them again swimming madly around with the guppies.
 
By sub adulthood I discovered they actually couldn't cope with living with other cichlids, they had no idea what to do and got battered by cichlids a third their size!
 
Went to a customer with livebearers who was willing to trial them and bring them back if need be. As far as I heard they lived happily ever after.
 
I was just surprised at quite how different they were to cichlids raised with their own kind, the ones raised with guppies were more stupid, food orientated and even hounded female guppies with the rest of the males, was bizarre.
 
Needless to say I felt somewhat guilty and screwing the fish up!

Yeah, this cichlids seem to have the same behavior as the guppies but i dont know if my friend has tried to put them in with the other cichlids.
