I have a twenty gallon aquarium with a white sand bottom. I am doing maintenance of the tank, serious maintenance to remove all the fish crap and remains of an old vacation feeder. Sometime soon I am thinking of getting a better hood with florescence lights for plants. Right now I only have plastic plants for tank, but I would like to change to real plants and put all the plastic plants into the goldfish tank. I am also trying to get stuff for the goldfish tank to get it into better condition but that is another topic for another section of the forum.
My question is what else would I need to make sure that the plants I get will not only survive but become good hiding spots for future guppy fry? I know I would need more guppies but I want to start a planted guppy tank.
What can I do to make sure this twenty gallon guppy (and corydora) tank becomes a healthy planted aquarium with lots of guppy fry?
