Gt's In A 50Gal

Would you say that a breeding pair of GT's would be comfortable in a 50gal tank to themselves?

Would anything else be able to sneak in with them? Maybe a plec and this pair of firemouths I can't seem to rehome?

75g is better for a breeding pair of Gt's and its not recommended you put anything else with them due to aggression breeding, the other fish would most likely be badly beaten up or killed and definately not a good idea for another pair with the firemouths. You would be ok with the firemouths in the 50g with some dithers.

Agree with Star the Firemouths would make a good breeding set up in there with some dithers and catfish - maybe some pictus and blind cave tetras with a group of natural green swordtails for a nice Central American tank

50G is pushing it for a pair of GT's, and is really only just acceptable. Defo NO TANKMATES in that size though.

75G is a much more comfortable size for a pair of GT's.

I'm liking the sound of that! How many of each would you suggest? My only query would be about the blind cave tetra, do they not get quite big themselves?

Shame about the GT's. I would love to take the pair I've been offered but I don't want to put them in with my severums. They are a lovely fish, maybe another time

Gts would need 75-100 to be comfartable.
You can have them in a 55 for a couple months but they will need a n upgrade.

I would go with one pair of firemouths, 3 or 5 pictus if you fancy them, the only trouble is they would have a go at picking off the fry, it depends on how good the parents are. My Brazilliensis managed to keep a huge batch of fry for quite some time with my 4 pictus. Something like 6-8 green swords (I am only guessing numbers by the way ) The blind cave I cant help with as I have never kept them and know nothing about them.
