Ok I admit I'm a noob when it comes to large cichlids, so here I am after advice.

1. Would Green Terror (2.5"), Jack Dempsey(3") and Blue Acara(3.5") be fine together in a good sized tank? If so what would be the final reccomended size?

2. Would a common pleco be ok in there as well (currentley 6")?

3. Would a pair of convicts be ok? or just not big enough?

4. currentley all above fish (minus the convicts) are happy in a 40G, at what size should they be moved up to (or seperated to) larger tank(s)?

Thanks in advance for any help

Andrew

You'll be looking at the Green Terror reaching 20cm.

The Jack Dempsey reaching 25cm's.

But beware: "Refers to the legendary boxer Jack Dempsey, because it fights other fish in the aquarium"

Also the Blue Acara will reach 16cm.

The convicts reach 10cm each too.

You might want to consider a very large tank and possibly not the Jack Dempsey.

I hope this is of help to you :D

I would also drop the convicts, a breeding pair will have a go at anything including a JD. Also the GT and Blue Acara look very similar, which could cause territory fights and i doubt the Acara would survive. IMO if you had a 125 gal it probably still wouldn't work. :/

You'd be better off picking 1 of the species and mixing it with other large non Cichlid species like silver dollars or Bala's in something around 100 gal.
