I go away for 2 days and come back to algea outbreaks of all types. Fish lethargic in all tanks

Masses of rootting food in with the fry and rotting food in all other tanks but not as bad.

Also decided that my floating plants were to big and removed them leaving little fry cover.

and dead shrimps and my coral blue breeding strain platy

thats an intellignet reply! not!

jazz, when you say masses of uneaten food,,, hows that? did u have someone feed them while you were away? i have heard its better to not feed them for short breaks rather than to trust someone else to come in and do it..
i assume you have changed the water now? and checked the temp etc ?
sorry about the loss mate, but treat the cause as a lesson and get on with it :)

Back to topic now before mods close the thread!

sorry yes missed out my wife took over feeding

I mean as in bits of flake on the bottom hadn't fed for 24hours so know it was uneaten

and white mold on plants ornaments

Ah right, the mould will probably be flakes that have gone mouldy, vac them out and test the water, i would do a small water change anyways, just to freshen it up :)

Best thread I seen for a long time.....go girl! ;)

popped in some ramshorn snails to help with the uneaten food in with the fry as i missed a bit here and there

Sorry if i sound like im nagging jazz, but did u test the water in the fry tank, or do a WC as they wont be as tolerant as the adults, rotting food will soon push up your levels to a point of danger where babies are concerned

Wow Shelagh , you tell him! Jazzz, im sorry for your losses. I would definatley test your water. Also, i would do 25 percent w/c for the next day or 2.

the fry float in the main tank and acctually look happier than the addults bizzarly

the ramsorns moved from the tank into the breeder

did 25% water change no testing kit i keep forgetting to buy one

promis next weekend i will rember :fish:
