I've just bought a small clump of moss which I intend to attach to a large resin 'rock'. From what I have read I understand that java moss is very easy to grow.

However, are two 2x15w T8 on for 5 hours a day going to give it enough light?

Should I add a small amount of fert to help it? If so, can someone recommend a regularly availble fert and how much to dose?

Will be fine for it, I've had java moss grow in the dark, different sort of leaves form though.
Tropica plant nutrition + is a good all round fertiliser I believe.I use the basic TPN and dry powder ferts though.

Ahhh good sounds as easy as I was hoping, cheers!

Thanks, will have a look for that during my next lfs visit. Have a java fern in the tank as well so the addition of the ferts can only help....

Any ferts you find at the local fish shop will do. It grows easy so I personally wouldn't buy the expensive ferts for it.

i dont add any ferts and my java mosses do great ..only started with small pieces ..tied them to bits of bogwood or dec they took great spreading out nicely ...some tanks i notice it looks different in richer green in 64litre yet thicker n fluffier in 200litre and dark n wirery in qt tank that has no light ..this is home to cory eggs..well babies now ..

ive also heard of people growing it in jam jars doing daily water changes so seems it should take most places ...

java moss can grow in anything any place. I have some growing in a 10 gal tank with one betta and very very little light its doing fine. You can grow it in highlight or little to none. It's basically a weed.

The only downside is in no light, or very little, it looks like a weed
