Green Terror / Oscar

Hello

I have a 550 Litre tank just doing a fishless cycle now - I have an oscar about 6 inches that is going into it from my 350L Juwel trigon

I am wondering will i be ok adding a Green Terror and a synspilum

Also wanted opinons on a Bichir / snake head or fishes like that - Just generally wanting to know what I could have in a mixed tank?

I think for these types of question the only answer we can give is 'you can try'

In a tank size it might work fine, but then again it might not work at all, totally depends on the temperaments of the exact fish you buy

Ok Thanks - I have only ever had a community tank and I know its depends on the fishes temperment - but I just don't want to go totally stupid and mix impossible fish that shud never go together if u know wat I mean

If you are looking for tankmates for an Oscar then I would be looking to cichlids that have a similar temperament, so that could include, a Convict, Sajica, HRP, Firemouth, Elliotti, Aureus, Nicaraguence, Jack Dempsey, Severum, Uaru or Chocolate Cichlid.

Any of the Vieja species I would class as usually more aggressive

hi mate i used to keep a vieja bifa and found these to be very agressive from 5inch upward as in took over the whole tanking killing a few and beating the hell out the others...so be v careful if you go for a synspilum as these are agressive central american cichlids where as oscars/chocolates/sevs are much more placid cichlids

Thanks - Some good advice there, I have looked at the suggested fish and really like most of them, so am now considering a mixture of thses to go in with Oscar Really wanted a green Terror but may eventually get a pair for the Trigon in the future - Obviously not in with the community lol

hi welcome to the forum

I keep oscars and once had a couple of synspilum with them, the aggression was too much and I had to choose between the to, despite the synspilum being beautiful the oscars were my preferred fish

I keep a 10 inch Ornate bichir with my oscars and there is no problems between the two, their paths don;t really cross and the bichir isa bolshy bugger at feeding time

Channas I would suggest keeping in species only tanks although I have a 7 inch Channa Stewarti in with my oscars he tends to stay out of their way though
