Green In Tank?

I have had green stuff on the side of my tank and on my glass stones like in the picture. I am wondering what it could be. Is it algae? How can I fix the problem so it wont happen again? I just cleaned my tank tonight so my fish is i new water. Im just curious. Sorry the picture is blurry.

yes, algae. Keep it away from sunlight. Only run the tank lights in 4 hour intervals.

Before my Betta fish died, this disgusting black algae started to grow in his tank. I was told that I could keep the light on and I thought that it would not do any harm. The light was what started the bacteria growing and, because I had the light on all of the time, made the algae grow out of control. The tank was okay one day. The next morning I woke up and went downstairs to feed the fish and the tank was COVERED in black algae. I cleaned the tank thoroughly and put him back in there. No more algae came back after that, thank God!
