just got a metallic green brain coral today and i was just wondering where i should put it. i've heard that red brains require less light and should be put under a shaded area but would that apply to the green ones as well? i have 250w 10k mh's and supplemental actinic t5s

here's a picture of it during the day

here's a pic of it under actinics.

a little off topic but does this qualify as an ultra grade coral? i love how the green is so intense (it's better in person, i don't have a great camera)

If it was me, I'd put it in a partially shaded area. It also depends how deep your tank is. You can 250w metal haides but it's totally different under a 30" tall tanks vs a 16" tall tank assuming both lights are hung about 6-10" over the water on both such tanks.

ya i guess i forgot to mention all that

the tank is 20.5" tall and the mh is sitting about 7-8" above the water.

it's currently fully inflated and looks quite happy where it is but only time will tell i guess. i'll put it under a partially shaded area as soon as i can just to be on the safe side though

thanks!
