Hi,

I have green algae growing in my 98 litre tank. I have 10 small fish - 2 neon tetras, 2 guppies, 2 corby's 2 black phantoms & 2 upside down catfish.

Any advice on how to get rid of the algae (I'm assuming that's what it is)? Tank is located in bright kitchen (we have 4 velux windows in celining). I clean tank regularly and ph & nitrate levels seem ok.

Any advice/help much appreciated.

Thanks!

(I would attach picture but can't due to 100k limit - this is too small for most images!)

I get it in my tank all the time it's not in direct sunlight as I red tht sun light can spew up agle growth but my tank still gets hit with sunlight on the left and front of the tank and it's these areas that has the alge growth. All I can suggest is move the tank or try to move it away from the sunlight as best as you can you can failing that as I do keep cleaning it away

Tell us wot setup u hot like wot tank size wot light etc u hav then cus thats means notting but basbboi85 is right dont hav it in sunlight.

Pictures would help as there are several types of green algaes. Is it stringy? Is it on the glass? Does it make the water green and cloudy?

The high light in your kitchen is probably why it's growing. I'd either try to move the tank to a place out of direct sunlight if you can or not have the tank lights on as much.

Thought I'd just add about stocking - the tetras, corys and upside-down cats need larger groups. I think a little sorting around may be needed. Maybe make a thread about this on a different part of the site?
