Hi I have a 70 litre tank for tropical fish it's been set up for about 6mouths was wondering if it is possible to change the gravel and how if possible?

yeah, what you do is, take it out and put new gravel in. Its a mad process i know.

When you change gravel though - doesn't it stir up lots of dirt from the tank floor? Also would you need to remove the fish before doing it?

Dirty water wont bother fish in the slightest, if anything they will go bananas looking for food in the muck that's stirred up.

Its really a common sense process, but a typical idiots guide would go along the lines of:

1) drain 90% of the water out into a bucket
2) net your fish, chuck them into the bucket
3) scoop out your gravel
4) drain rest of the water out down the drain
5) put new gravel in
6) put some new water in and add some old water, 50/50 is usually a good shout
7) bring up to temp and fire up your filter
8) add fish, keep lights out for the evening, dont feed until tomorrow
9) enjoy your nice new pink neon gravel
