Gravel To Sand

Im wondering on the pros and cons of sand vs gravel
ive always though sand looked much better than regular gravel,
but is it in anyway healthier for the inhabitants?
ik plants will usually do much better in sand but what about fish?
And where could i buy actual sand for my aquarium?
Also is there such thing as black sand for aquariums?
One more thing
are there any special things i need to do to put sand in?
or is it as simple as putting it in the tank and filling it with water?

but is it in anyway healthier for the inhabitants? - Some prefer it, for some its a must. Depends on the tank inhabitants. For Corys its the standard or preffered substrate.
ik plants will usually do much better in sand but what about fish? - As above, you'll need to research what you already have, and see what fits best.
And where could i buy actual sand for my aquarium? - You can buy aquarium sand at your LFS. (As you said "actual sand", i assume you know you can use $4 playsand?)
Also is there such thing as black sand for aquariums? - Yes as above, see your LFS, or eBay.
One more thing
are there any special things i need to do to put sand in?
or is it as simple as putting it in the tank and filling it with water? -Wash, re-wash, then wash again, or else you'll get cloudy wanter thats an #14### to shift and no help to your filter
