Ethos, if your gourami had 'fur' growing on it it had a fungus infection. A 'fungus' infection can sometimes be bacterial though depending on the type. Either way, if you had use an anti-fungus med. the gourami may still have survived. I don't know, of course, what your LFS gave you

.
sharky&george, gouramies are egg layers so they can't get pregnant. If your fish does NOT have white, stringy poo (indication of internal parasites), if it is eating well, poops regularly, isn't lethargic and is female, then you are probably right in thinking she is just full of eggs and is prefectly healthy.
FrankP - do you know the sex of your fish? Can you tell me what each of the 3 is and also specificaly what the 2 with the lump are? Also, how old are they (just tell me the size and how long you've had them)? Are the 'lumps' actualy unnatural-looking - do they protrude realy obviously outside the body, are they a different color, do they look full of fluid etc? Any sign of white, stringy poo? Are the fish eating fine? Is there any sign of a bacterial or fungul infection (fluffy cotton-wool like growths or white patches etc)? What are your water parameters finaly?
I think there's a pinned article about posting pics in the member's pics section of the forum. If not, I'm sure someone else will be able to explain. Can you upload the picture to say boomspeed.com (easy to set up an acount realy quickly) and then post a link to them here?
Oh one more thing, which fins do you mean are 'side mounted'? There's the long ventral fins (the feelers), the pectorals on either side of the head behind the gills (I assume it's these?), the dorsal fin is the fin on the back, the caudal fin is the tail and the anal fin is the single fin under the body.
