Hi,

My male dwarf gourami is sitting on the bottom of the tank in the shelter of a rock so he's out of the water current. He occasionally floats to the surface and 'burps' one or two bubbles before sinking rapidly back to the bottom.
He looks a little bloated around the belly but nothing major, just looks like he's just been fed.
Also he rocks gently from side to side while on the bottom.

Has anyone got any ideas?

:) hi. how long has he been in the tank. does he have any tank mates. do you know what the readings are for nitrite, ammonia, nitrate and ph are? he may well be constipated, have you noticed him poo and if so was it normal? could be also suffering from internal bacteria, so water quality would be good to know. thanx

pH 7.0
Ammonia 0.0ppm
Nitrite 0.0ppm
Nitrate 20 - 30ppm

Fish has been in planted tank for over a month with tetras, clown loaches, clown plec, bamboo shrimp and a female gourami.
I have had no deaths in this tank since it was set up almost 2 months ago.
20% water changes done every 2 - 3 days, last one was 3 days ago (was going to do one tonight).

:) so that only leaves the constipation or internal bacteria (unless someone can think of anything else). try feeding a bit of bolied pea with the skin off and squished in your fingers. try this for a couple of days and see if he starts to poo. if he is pooing ok then try some internal meds.
