Just having a grumble, I lost my male blue acara last night at 2am, really upset about it, I had been wanting blue acara for so long. I know there was absolutely nothing more I could have done for him, I tried absolutely everything. He never looked 100% since the day I got him, the water in the bag was green and smelt rather bad. Quaranteened him, medicated him for everything possible and he was still quiet and lathargic compared to the female. The female is still very small for an acara and not grown since I had her so got the feeling she is stunted and will possibly have problems in the future. Going to sulk all day!

Aww i feel for you they are beautiful fish. Just take comfort in knowing that you did absolutley everything for him. If someonw else had bought him they might have just flushed him so you gave it your best shot.

That sounds like my male blue acara. I think stress is what killed him in the end his life was never easy going. His mate beat him then I moved him around and then my ebjd picked on him. He got thinner and thinner till there was nothing I could do. He also never grew much my female blue acara grew way more then him.

Anyways I'm sorry about your lose it stinks to lose a fish you really liked and wanted so bad. I would give you my fat female blue acara she is almost 1 year and 4.5". How big is yours. I found once they hit 3" they did not grow as fast.

i feel for you star this hobby cn really be frustrating at times , but you shouldnt give up cos of a bad fish. think of all those cute little rotties youre raising . sounds like he would of died a lot sooner than he did if you hdnt taken him.

Thanks everyone, knew you lot would make me feel better

Mark your right, thinking about my little rotties is a good thing, so I am not raising hundreds at a time, but hopefully those I am raising are happy healthy strong fish and I am giving them the best start possible so those people that have them wont go through the heartach of loosing them. (so long as they are cared for propperly and I will be checking  )

I think a trip to the lfs to cheer myself up is in order :hey:

yep you cant beat a good trip to buy fish when the game is being a sod . worked wonders for mew yesterday :hey:

Cichlids can be so distressing can't they, who would think simple fish would cause us so much worry!

I currently have a lovely port acara being picked on by my firemouth now that the HRP is no longer boss in the tank they're in, I feel like taking the firemouth out of the tank and getting rid...but I know he'd be a pain in anyone's tank unless he is bossed about by something else...

I certainly won't have him in the tank when some rotties go in!
