Got New Nerite Snails

got 3 tiger nerite snails on saturday and 1 has dissapeared and the other two have barely moved. i read somewhere that the sometimes seem to hibernate while they adjust to the new conditions.

any advice because im a bit concerned?

when i first got mine they were a bit sluggish and took a couple of days to adjust to their new sourroundings, give them time and see if they come out in a day or two

the 1 that i cant find just went straight up above the water level, put it back in and it done the same again lol. it cant escape tho but is this normal???

I got five originally for the algae, one has died since as it did manage to escape the tank and found it dried up (they can and will escape, curiosity and searching for food and all). Mine occasionally go above the water and retreat back down when ready. It is normal and you will find them on the lid so be careful when doing maintenance. Have you good enough filter, if you have a bubble wand and pumptry that to get more oxygen going as one reason snails hang near the surface sometimes is lack of oxygen (not wantign to panic you but when have had low oxygen on another tank with snails in this is what they did) hope of some help!

They climb out of the water loads in nature too, so as mentioned, it's very important to make sure they cant get out.

They also need clean, well oxygenated water, as mentioned. And it's very hard to get them to eat anything other than algae - so make sure theres enough of it in your tank otherwise they will just slowly starve. It's easy to over-stock with these guys.

Another thing, they shouldn't be kept in acidic water, their shell will corrode.

Mine crawl up just past the water line whenever I put them in a new tank--- in fact, I have been alerted to a couple of pH disasters because my nerites wouldn't stay in the water! They will go back in at their own pace.
