I got my fish for my tank that has cycled two days ago

10 Danios (not sure what they are, they look like zebra, but they have red tips to their fins ??? see video below)
7 red coloured ones (cherry barbs I think ???)
7 Xrays

I keep checking the water parameters and every thing is stable

0ppm ammonia
0ppm nitrIte
40ppm NitrAte (our tap water is 37 according to water company report)

They are all very happy, the danios are very lively, but timid, they swim round and round under my wood in the tank, but if you go up next to the tank they eventually come over to check you out, I chose these first, I just liked the look of them.

Nice quality video! Very nice set up too! I'm still very new to all this, so I can't help with identifying. Just wanted to stop by and compliment!

Zebra danios are not a bad first choice pdludbrooke. Why not give them some time in your tank before you go any further at all? At least that will tell you how well you did with your fishless cycle.

I didn't see the cherries but looks nice with the zebras and pristellas.

I'm not sure they are zebra danios, they look a lot different to the ones in two LFS I went to, their bodies are more golden and the tips of all fins has red, the normal danios I saw in the other 2 LFS the danios were silver with black sripes ????
It's so hard to get a close photo with my digital camera, they are so quick.

If you just got them, they're prolly stressed. I'm sure they'll color up, but they look like zebras to me

I'm curious at why the danios are swimming so low down in the tank...

Do they spend more time near the surface when the tank lights are turned off?
Is there is a stronger current flow low down in the tank?

They look like perfectly normal zebra danios to me. Swimming low in the tank is not at all unusual for them. I am a bit surprised at how slowly they are swimming in your video. I find that zebras are almost always breeding which means males chasing females at high speeds just a few inches above the substrate. Slow swimming zebras are almost unheard of.

I haven't seen any mateing behaviour yet, these fish are only an inch long, so are they still babies, when do they start getting down to business, also I noticed when I put my moonlight blue lights on I can see two whiskers coming down from their mouths ????

I have been testing my water twice a day, and results are always 0 ammonia and 0 nitrIte NitrAte is a little over 40 ppm but my tap water is 37 ppm nitrAte
