Hi All

I read a post earlier today and it got me thinking.

i have an external filter and have always had the spray bar at one end of the tank and the outlet at the other end of the tank so facing each other i also have my heater under the spray bar the theory being the heated water will rise into the current and flow through the aquarium.

The post i read suggested that the inlet(spray bar) should be directly above the outlet so both at the same end of the tank the theory being water is blown across the top of the water to the other end it will then move down along the floor and back to the outlet (makes sense)

so is the way i have mine set up wrong?

Thanks in advance.

So would that be the same then for any outlet? Because in theory, its doing the same thing.... pushing the water along the top of the tank.

On instructions for external filters, it always tells you to put the inlet and outlet at opposite ends. But what you have said makes sense.

I will be keeping an eye on this thread.... good question.

Some may disagree but i think you may be reading into it too much. In reality, temperature is not a constant in the wild, it varies depending on the time and where in the water system fish go.
